Claude Code Remote Control is a feature that lets you continue a local Claude Code session from your phone, tablet, or any browser. It connects claude.ai/code or the Claude mobile app (iOS and Android) to a Claude Code session running on your own machine. The session stays local the entire time—nothing moves to the cloud. You can start a task at your desk, then pick it up from your phone on the couch or a browser on another computer.
Your filesystem, MCP servers, tools, and project configuration all stay available when you connect remotely. Typing @ autocompletes file paths from your local project, so you can navigate and edit files as if you were sitting at your desk.
The conversation stays in sync across all connected devices. You can send messages from your terminal, browser, and phone interchangeably—no need to choose one interface.
If your laptop sleeps or your network drops, the session reconnects automatically when your machine comes back online. You won't lose your work or your place in the conversation.
Remote Control sessions run on your machine, not in the cloud—your local environment stays local.
Unlike Claude Code on the web, which runs on cloud infrastructure, Remote Control keeps everything on your own hardware. The web and mobile interfaces are just a window into that local session. This means your files, tools, and configuration never leave your machine, giving you both flexibility and control.
You already use Claude Code from your terminal or VS Code and want the freedom to continue sessions from a phone, tablet, or another computer. It's especially useful if you value keeping your work local while still being able to step away from your desk. Remote Control is available on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans (API keys are not supported), and requires Claude Code v2.1.51 or later.
