MacBrightness unlocks your MacBook Pro's full panel so you can finally work in the sun. Free to try in Splitscreen Mode.
MacBrightness is a lightweight macOS utility that unlocks the full brightness potential of your MacBook Pro’s mini-LED display. It lets you push past the default brightness limit set by macOS, giving you up to 1,600 nits of sustained brightness—roughly twice the normal range. The app works with your existing brightness keys, requires no account or setup, and offers a free Splitscreen Mode so you can see the difference before buying.
No new shortcuts or menu-bar icons to learn. Just tap your brightness keys a few more times, and MacBrightness extends the range seamlessly. It works in every app, from Safari to Final Cut Pro.
Install MacBrightness and half your screen jumps to full brightness while the other half stays at the macOS default. You can compare the difference side by side, and this mode stays free for as long as you like.
MacBrightness adds no noticeable CPU overhead. It simply enables the brightness range your display already keeps on hand for HDR, without low-level hacks or system modifications.
A single $5 license unlocks the full-screen brightness for your own Macs. Team and company licenses are also available for $30 and $50 respectively, with no recurring fees.
MacBrightness doesn't hack your screen—it just opens the brightness range your display already keeps on hand for HDR.
This is the key differentiator. Many users assume their MacBook Pro is already at maximum brightness when the slider is maxed out. In reality, macOS caps the sustained brightness well below what the mini-LED panel can deliver. MacBrightness simply removes that software limit, giving you the same brightness range that Apple already uses for HDR video and photos. It’s not a hack, it’s a unlock—and it works with zero performance overhead.
You own a MacBook Pro 14″ or 16″ with an M-series Pro or Max chip (or a Pro Display XDR) and you’ve ever struggled to read your screen outdoors. If you’ve found yourself tilting the lid, squinting, or moving indoors just to get work done, MacBrightness offers a simple, one-time fix. The free Splitscreen Mode lets you test the difference in under a minute, with no commitment required.
