Vibe Buddy is a compact desktop robot designed to keep your Codex and Claude Code usage limits and task status visible while you work. Instead of switching tabs or running another command, you can glance at a tiny physical companion that shows when your AI is actively working, needs your input, has finished a task, or has hit its usage limit. It reads usage and activity locally on your computer, then sends only the essential display state to the robot over Bluetooth—keeping your prompts, keys, and account details safe on your machine.
Vibe Buddy keeps your Codex and Claude Code usage percentages and reset times visible on its small screen. You'll always know how much runway you have left without interrupting your flow.
The robot changes its face to show when your AI needs an answer or approval, when it's actively working, or when it's done. This visual cue helps you decide whether to keep coding or step in.
At 81 × 54 × 25 mm (3.2 × 2.1 × 1.0 in), Vibe Buddy fits comfortably beside your keyboard. It has a built-in battery, so you can keep it plugged in over USB-C or unplug it and move it around your desk.
The Vibe Buddy CLI reads usage and activity locally, then sends only limits, task counts, and display state to the robot over Bluetooth. Prompts, keys, tokens, and account details never leave your computer.
Vibe Buddy turns your AI's invisible status into a living, glanceable presence on your desk.
Most AI usage tracking lives in dashboards, terminals, or browser extensions—all of which require you to look away from your code. Vibe Buddy makes status physical and immediate, with a personality that changes based on what your AI is doing. It's a working prototype, not a render: every photo and video shows the real device, and it's designed, 3D-printed, assembled, and tested in Vancouver, Canada.
You're a developer who lives in Codex or Claude Code and wants a low-friction way to monitor usage limits and task status without breaking concentration. It's also a great fit if you enjoy unique desk hardware with a local-first privacy approach, or if you're willing to pre-order a promising prototype at $59 and wait for a planned September 2026 ship date.
Other tools you might consider
You're running more coding agents than ever, but you can't keep up with them. That's where AgentPeek comes in. It pulls every session up into your Mac notch, live. Glance up, approve a prompt, watch token usage and manage the entire flow without pausing your YouTube video. All local, all yours.
Three things kept hitting me using Claude Code. Tab switching every 30 seconds just to check if it's still running. Claude silently blocking for 12 minutes while I was in another app. Coming back to find it finished or stuck 15 minutes ago. So I built CodeBreak. A pixel-art character walks your screen while CC runs. It celebrates when done, panics when it needs you, sulks on errors. $7 one-time. No sub. All future updates are free. Its for CC now, eventually will be Universal for all AI tools.
Tamamon is a macOS desktop pet that lives on top of your screen and grows the more you build with Claude Code. What it does: - 20 species to collect through a weekly gacha, each with its own evolved forms and quirks - Feed it, play (ball, bubbles), and decorate its habitat - Reacts to real time and weather — when it rains or night falls, your pet heads home to rest - Nothing leaves your Mac. No account, no sign-in, no tracking, nothing uploaded.
Capsomnia turns Caps Lock into a physical switch that keeps your MacBook awake. Keep Claude Code, Codex, other AI agents, SSH sessions, builds, downloads, and more running after you close the lid. If Caps Lock is already assigned, choose another shortcut. The Caps Lock light still shows whether Capsomnia is active. The app is free and open source, signed and notarized. No accounts or telemetry. We’ve already seen strong interest in Japan: 2.3M+ views and 6,000+ downloads.
